Nouns and Pronouns

 

Noun: Person, place, thing, or idea/concept

Ex: Lance Armstrong; Seattle; bike trail; joy

 

Pronoun: Word used in place of a noun

Ex: He is America’s most famous cyclist.

Ex:  It is the greatest city in Washington. 

 

Types of Pronouns:

·       Definite: Represents specific persons or things (she; it; this)

·       Indefinite: Refers to nouns in a general way (someone; each; whoever)

·       Introduces questions:  Which?  What?  Who?
